Tuba Group, Inc. was founded in February, 2002, is a small business and a CMMI® Level 3 Rated, ISO9001:2015 certified organization. Our firm was established as a small business with a primary focus in accounting and auditing service offerings. Through the years we have expanded our business and services to include accounting, financial, systems, technical, engineering, administrative, management, and subject matter expertise services. We currently have employees in 26 states and U.S. territories.

Management bio
John Tuba, CPA MBA
President and Chief Executive Officer

John Tuba is the CEO and founder of Tuba Group. He is responsible for the firm’s strategic direction, business development, and successful delivery of client services, including oversight of project management, quality assurance, and final issuance of all deliverables and reports. With a desire to deliver customer focused technical solutions centered around an employee friendly work environment, John founded Tuba Group in 2002.

John has over 19 years of experience in public accounting, providing Federal Government audit, advisory, and accounting services. During his 19 year career, John has briefed senior corporate and government officials on financial matters. Prior to founding Tuba Group, John was employed with a “Big Four” accounting firm financial audits. John holds a Masters of Business Administration degrees from Georgetown University’s McDonough School, Washington DC and ESADE Business School, Barcelona Spain. John also holds a Bachelors of Science in accounting from Virginia Commonwealth University.

James W. Reid, CPA MBA
DIRECTOR OF ASSURANCE SERVICES

James has over 40 years of experience providing consulting and assurance services to the public and private sector. He is responsible for overseeing the firm’s delivery of audit and assurance services to governmental and private clients.  After founding and leading a government contracting firm for approximately 20 years, James joined the TubaGroup in 2016.  James holds a Masters of Business Administration Degree from George Washington University and a Bachelors of Business Administration Degree from the University of the District of Columbia.  James is a CPA in Maryland, Virginia, and Ohio.  He enjoyed briefly studying international political economy, technology, and industry at the University of Oxford. 

Michael L. Jackson
DIRECTOR OF CLIENT RELATIONS

Michael Jackson has over 30 years of experience, which includes executive level positions in Information Technology and Management Consulting. During his career, which began as a software developer, has led him to integrate complex systems in both government and corporate industries.  Michael, has directed large-scale transformational efforts in IT, targeting enterprise architecture, applications, data and voice networks, command and control systems, information security and criminal justice information systems.  Michael serves as our Director of Client Relations, supporting our Government and Commercial Clients within our IT Division.  Michael, is dedicated to aligning our client’s requirements to emerging technologies, with the goal of expanding Tuba’s reputation as a trusted partner to our client community.   

Michael received his Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from St. John’s University in New York and his Master of Science in Information Technology from the University of Maryland.  He has also received certifications in Executive Management from the Stern School of Business at New York University.

Mick Tabron
Program Director

Mr. Mick Tabron is the senior manager of Tuba Group’s IT Enterprise Support services to government clients and agencies. He has 18 years of combined experience providing managerial and technical support in the federal and commercial space with an emphasis on managing cross-functional and technical teams, controlling budgets and financial reports and cultivating vendor and client relationships. Mr. Tabron is highly experienced in developing implementation and management plans, resource identification, defining Scope of Work’s, scheduling, planning (WBS) and overseeing medium to large projects, inclusive of providing support services for multi-site roll-out task orders.

Shirley Nelson
Human Resources Director

Shirley has over fifteen years of experience in the human resources profession that spans across all facets of human resources management; this includes the areas of strategy development, establishing and implementing human resources policies and practices, and talent management at several national companies. She believes a good human resources department is critical to the success of the organization.  In her most recent position, Shirley was the human resources manager for a regional CPA firm supporting the Federal government in Washington DC.

Hervey Tuba
Director OF OPERATIONS

Mr. Hervey Tuba guides Tuba Group’s Corporate Support functions, managing administrative and technical support functions. Mr. Hervey Tuba has over 13 years of varied experience supporting federal contractors as well as working directly with Federal agencies providing information system, information technology, administrative, and managerial support, and is a proud graduate of Virginia Tech, Blacksburg Virginia.
